The Dunleith Township is located in the extreme northwest of Illinois at the intersection of the three states of Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa . Dunleith Township is on the east bank of the Mississippi across from the city of Dubuque , Iowa.
The Dunleith Township is located at 42 ° 28'42 "north latitude and 90 ° 36'48" west longitude and extends over 30.02 km², which is spread over 24.08 km² of land and 5.94 km² of water.

By Dunleith Township of the Illinois portion of the proceeds Great River Road forming US Highway 20 , which here at the Illinois State Route 35 meets. The Julien Dubuque Bridge crosses the Mississippi into Iowa.
A railway line runs along the Mississippi and is used by several operating companies at the same time.
