The Rice Township is one of 23 townships in Jo Daviess County in the extreme northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois .

The Rice Township is located in northwest Illinois on the Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa . The Wisconsin border is approximately 20 km north.
The Rice Township is located at 42 ° 19'51 "north latitude and 90 ° 22'55" west longitude and extends over 77.02 km², they are spread over 63.29 km² of land and 13.73 km² of water.
The Rice Township borders within Jo Daviess County in the north on the East Galena Township , in the northeast on the Guilford Township , in the east on the Elizabeth Township and in the south on the Hanover Township . Jackson County is on the opposite bank of the Mississippi in Iowa .

The Rice Township is only in the extreme northeast of the Illinois portion of the Great River Road forming US Highway 20 touches. There are no other highways running through the central part of the township, only partially unpaved county roads and other subordinate roads.
