Guillaume III. de Vienne , called the sage (le Sage) († after March 11, 1435, but before 1445) was the son of Hugues VI. de Vienne and Jeanne de Châteauvillain . As heir to his brother Hugues VII († after 1390) he was Seigneur de Seurre , de Sellières , de Sainte-Croix , de Montpont , de Rombois, de Louhans , de Bosjean , de Montrond , de Mervans , de Longepierre , de Navilly etc. .

Guillaume III. de Vienne was a close advisor to the Duke of Burgundy , and in this position (also in the real sphere of influence of the French king) performed a number of tasks.
