Gustav Sühler

Gustav Sühler (born March 17, 1922 in Lindau , Upper Franconia ; † July 2, 1998 in Bayreuth ) was a German farmer and politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Gustav Sühler was born as the son of the farmer and politician Adam Sühler . After graduating from elementary school and attending agricultural colleges, he went on study trips to the United States as well as to England , Sweden and Switzerland . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , and from 1940 as a pilot in the Air Force .

After the end of the war, Sühler worked as a farmer in Waldau . He has been involved in rural youth since 1946 , where he assumed leading positions and was federal chairman of the German rural youth from 1949 to 1953 . In addition, he worked as a functionary of the Bavarian Farmers' Association . First he was district chairman, then a member of the executive committee and from 1977 to 1991 finally president of the association and the district association of Upper Franconia. In addition, from 1982 to 1991 he was the first vice president of the German Farmers' Association .

Political party

Sühler joined the FDP after 1945 , but then switched to the CSU.

MP

Sühler was from 1948 to 1952 and from 1957 to 1978 member of the district council of the Kulmbach district . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1965. In parliament he represented the constituency of Kulmbach . From 1964 to 1991 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate . The focus of his activity here was agriculture and forestry.

Public offices

Sühler temporarily served as mayor of the municipality of Lindau.
