Høruphav (German Höruphaff ) is a small town with 2671 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the parish ( Danish " Sogn " ) Hørup Sogn in North Schleswig in southern Denmark .
history
Until 1970 it belonged to Harde Als Sønder Herred in what was then Sønderborg Amt , then to Sydals Kommune in what was then Sønderjyllands Amt , whose administrative seat was Høruphav. In the course of the local government reform on January 1, 2007 , this was merged into the "new" Sønderborg municipality in the Syddanmark region.
Høruphav is located on the north bank of the bay of the same name, Hørup Hav , which is connected to the Bay of Kiel and thus to the Baltic Sea via the Flensburg Outer Fjord . The former fishing village has a relatively large “Lystbådehavn” ( German yacht harbor ), a kro and the old Hotel Baltic right by the harbor. Høruphav has long been an excursion and holiday destination for the people of Sønderborg.
There are several holiday home areas around the town center , so that the town has almost merged with the parish village of Hørup Kirke . There are two supermarkets, a pharmacy , a dental clinic and various retail stores in the village .
The 74 kilometer long Gendarmstien , a former border control path and today's hiking trail, ends in Høruphav and mostly runs along the Flensburg Fjord.
