The Austrian football championship was held for the 100th time in 2011/12 . The top division is the Austrian Bundesliga, which was held for the 38th time this season and was contested by ten teams. These determined the Austrian soccer champion in four rounds. It started on July 16, 2011 and ended on May 17, 2012 with the 36th and final round.
FC Red Bull Salzburg became champions for the seventh time . SK Rapid Wien was runner-up, six points behind . While Salzburg is eligible to qualify for the UEFA Champions League (2nd round) thanks to the championship title , Rapid and third-placed FC Admira Wacker Mödling , the most successful promoted player in the Bundesliga history, play in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League (2nd round). The sixth-placed SV Ried is also entitled to participate in the Europa League qualification due to its participation in the Cup finals.
The Kapfenberg SV ended the championship in tenth and last place and must after four seasons in the Bundesliga go back into the second class First League.
The 2011/12 First League began on June 10, 2011 and ends on May 18, 2012 with the 36th and final round. The team of the two Carinthian cooperation clubs Wolfsberger AC and SK St. Andrä won the championship. The WAC, which ends this cooperation after this season, will be promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time. The last placed team of TSV Hartberg has to relegate to the Regionalliga Mitte, the table penultimate has two relegation games against the Grazer AK , the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte.
In the three regional leagues East, Middle and West, two rounds are played for promotion to the first division. Two of the three teams can qualify. In the 2011/12 season, the champions of the Regionalliga West ( WSG Wattens ) will face SV Horn , the champions of the Regionalliga Ost and the GAK as champions of the Regionalliga Mitte against the bottom of the First League (forced relegation of the LASK ). Unless other regulations result from the relegated teams, three teams must relegate to the fourth performance class.
Licensing process
On April 29, 2011, the Bundesliga awarded the licenses for the 2011/12 championship. With the exception of the Bundesliga clubs LASK Linz and FC Wacker Innsbruck , the first league clubs FC Trenkwalder Admira and FC Lustenau 07 as well as the promotion candidate from the regional leagues center (SK Austria Klagenfurt) and East ( Vienna Sport Club ), all clubs have been granted the license. FK Austria Wien (Bundesliga) and SKN St. Pölten (First League) got the license under financial conditions
In the second instance, the protest committee of the Bundesliga decided on May 13, 2011 that FC Trenkwalder Admira would receive the license, while FC Wacker Innsbruck, LASK Linz and FC Lustenau 07 would only receive the license under financial conditions.
First performance level - Bundesliga
Clubs of the tipp3 Bundesliga 2011/12 |
The Bundesliga, supported by the sports betting provider tipp3 as the main sponsor, is the top division in Austrian football and will be played for the 92nd time in the 2011/12 season. The sub-sponsor is the mobile operator T-Mobile Austria , which is why the official league name is tipp3-Bundesliga powered by T-Mobile . After six years, the newly promoted FC Admira Wacker Mödling is back in Austria's top division. The team replaces the relegated LASK Linz .
With the exception of Vorarlberg and Carinthia , all Austrian federal states are represented in the Bundesliga. Vienna , Lower Austria and Styria each provide two clubs.
The TV provider sky Deutschland AG has the rights to show all Bundesliga games in full length that are broadcast on pay TV on the sky sport austria channel. For the first time, the broadcaster will not only show all the games in the familiar conference call, but also as individual games. In addition, the ORF has the rights to broadcast the “top game of the round” as a single game - mostly on Sundays, in the case of weekday rounds on Wednesdays. This rule does not apply to the last two rounds in which all games must be played at the same time. In addition, the ORF is allowed to show a 45-minute summary of the remaining four games per round.
mode
In the 2011/12 season, as in previous years, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 rounds. The draw was overturned after the 9th and 27th round. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team.
The champions Red Bull Salzburg were eligible to participate in the second qualifying round for the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League , the second and third placed clubs SK Rapid Wien and FC Trenkwalder Admira as well as the ÖFB Cup winners were for the second and third qualifying rounds the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League to start. If the cup winner becomes Austrian champion at the same time, the loser of the cup finals starts in the Europa League. The tenth place, Kapfenberger SV, had to relegate to the second highest division, the first division .

Second performance level - First League
Clubs of the "Today for Tomorrow" First League 2011/12 |
The first league is the second highest division in Austrian professional football and will be played for the 36th time in the 2011/11 season. LASK Linz and the two relegation winners are new to the league (ninth in the First League 2010/11 against champions Regionalliga Ost 2010/11 and champions Regionalliga West 2010/11 against the champions of the Regionalliga mid 2010/11).
In the 2011/12 season, Vorarlberg has three clubs, Upper Austria two clubs and Vienna, Lower Austria, Salzburg, Styria and Carinthia each have one club. Burgenland and Tyrol are not represented in the second highest division.
As in the Bundesliga, the TV rights belong to the broadcaster sky Deutschland AG , which is allowed to show every game in full. It will be broadcast on the pay-TV channel sky sport austria and as part of a conference call with four games that start at 6:30 p.m. Exceptions are the last two rounds, in which all games have to be played at the same time, sky may also choose a game that will be broadcast as the "top game of the round" as a single game on Friday at 8:30 pm. The ORF also has the right to live the top game of the round and broadcast in full. This is done via the ORF Sport Plus channel .
mode
In the 2011/12 season, which starts on July 10, 2011, ten clubs will compete against each other in a total of 36 rounds, as in the previous season. The championship ends on May 13, 2012.
The league champion is promoted to the Bundesliga . The last placed in the first division must be relegated to the regional division corresponding to his region . This will be replaced by the winner of the two qualifying games between the champions of the regional leagues West and East. The table penultimate has to play two relegation games against the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte. The winner of the relegation matches is qualified for the first division of the 2012/13 season.

Third level - regional leagues
mode
The regional leagues east, west and middle form the third level in Austrian football. The Regionalliga Ost is formed by the clubs of the Vienna , Lower Austria and Burgenland Football Associations. The Regionalliga Mitte consists of clubs from the Upper Austrian , Carinthian and Styrian Football Associations. The Regionalliga West is made up of clubs from the Salzburg , Tyrol and Vorarlberg football associations.
In each of these three leagues, one relegation place for the first division is played; A license from Senate 5 of the Bundesliga is a prerequisite for any promotion.
The three worst-placed teams in the regional leagues must relegate to the fourth level. If several clubs in the first division are relegated to the same regional league, the number of relegated teams increases in this division. For example, if two clubs that belong to the regional associations of the Central Regionalliga have to relegate from the second level, four teams must relegate in the Central Regionalliga.

Relegation
In the new class reform of 2009 it was decided that the champions or promotion candidates of the regional leagues must play relegation games together with the ninth place in the First League to stay or be promoted to the First League. A changing mode of the relegation games was agreed for the regional league teams. Accordingly, this season the Regionalliga Mitte had to compete against the ninth place in the First League and the Regionalliga East against the Regionalliga West. Due to the withdrawal of the LASK license and the associated relegation of Linz to the Regionalliga Mitte, the ninth place in the First League, FC Lustenau 07 , remained without relegation in the second division. The last of the first division, TSV Hartberg, advanced to the relegation place and meets the regional league middle champion there.
In the first pairing, the last of the First League, TSV Hartberg, plays against the champions of the Regionalliga Mitte, the Grazer AK.
