Atdhe Nuhiu (born July 29, 1989 in Pristina , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar football player on the position of a striker who also has Austrian citizenship. Since July 2013 he has been playing for Sheffield Wednesday in the English Football League Championship .
Career
society
Nuhiu began his career at Sportunion-Ried in the Traunkreis and moved to FC Wels in 1999 . The striker played 30 games for the regional division in the 2007/08 season and scored eleven goals. In the summer he signed with the Bundesliga club SK Austria Kärnten . Nuhiu made his debut in the Bundesliga on July 25, 2008 against LASK Linz . He came on for Manuel Weber in the 68th minute and scored his first Bundesliga goal 15 minutes later. The game ended 2: 3. At the end of August 2009 he switched to SV Ried on loan .
On June 7, 2010, the tall striker moved to the Austrian capital for SK Rapid Vienna , where he signed a contract with a term of three years, with an option for another year at Rapid. For Nuhiu, who was the third new signing of SK Rapid Wien in the current transfer period before the 2010/11 season , only a small transfer fee was transferred to his home club.
On July 3, 2012, SK Rapid Vienna announced that Nuhiu is moving to the Turkish Süper Lig club Eskişehirspor with immediate effect . Initially, Nuhiu was awarded for a year, but Eskişehirspor was given an option to buy. On August 3, 2012, he scored his first competitive goal for the Turkish club. He made it 1-1 in the 69th minute of play against Olympique Marseille in the third qualifying round of the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League . He scored his first goal in the Turkcell Süper Lig on December 7, 2012. He scored the goal in the 92nd minute of the game to make it 2-2 at Beşiktaş Istanbul .
In July 2013, Nuhiu moved from Turkey to the English Football League Championship club Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer , where he scored his first goal in his first competitive game in a 2-1 home defeat by Queens Park Rangers .
National team
Nuhiu initially played for Austrian youth national teams. In March 2017 he was appointed to the squad of the Kosovar national team for the first time . He made his debut for the Kosovars that month in a World Cup qualifier against Iceland . In this game he even scored his first goal; he scored the 1: 2 final score.
