Petri Pasanen (born September 24, 1980 in Lahti ) is a former Finnish football player who was most recently under contract with FC Lahti . He made most of his career games for SV Werder Bremen .
Career
society
The central defender began his professional career at the Finnish first division club FC Lahti . For the 2000/01 season he moved to Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands for the sum of 2.6 million euros . However, after an injury break, the young international lost contact with the first team.
In order to collect match practice, Pasanen agreed to a loan move to the English first division club Portsmouth in 2004 . After half a season in England , he moved to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen on July 15, 2004 . There he scored his first Bundesliga goal in a 4-0 away win against FC Hansa Rostock on August 14, 2004, the 2nd matchday, and soon earned a regular place in central defense alongside Valérien Ismaël and against national player Frank Fahrenhorst .
His career suffered a kink in the fall of 2005 when he was out for about six months after a head injury with subsequent head trauma. He lost his starting place at Frank Fahrenhorst and was early in the season 2006/07 and Per Mertesacker not from his position as a central defender alongside Naldo displace. When Mertesacker was out due to an injury in the closing stages of the season, Pasanen was able to move up into the starting line-up.
In the 2007/08 season he was often used in the outer positions, as Clemens Fritz and Pierre Womé were injured. He is considered defensively strong, serene and can also be used in the position of right and left full-back. In 2011, Pasanen agreed with Werder not to extend the contract that was running out at the end of the season. A few days after the end of the season, Werder manager Klaus Allofs confirmed that contract negotiations would be resumed at short notice. On June 16, 2011 Werder Bremen announced that Pasanen's contract would not be renewed. In the summer of 2011, the Finn moved to Austria for FC Red Bull Salzburg . At the end of the season it was announced that his contract would not be renewed and he would be leaving the club. In July 2012 he signed a contract with Aarhus GF, with whom he played in the Superliga . After a 7th place in his first season, he rose with the club at the end of the 2013/14 season in the 1st division . On July 1, he moved back to his home country for FC Lahti . After a short period of acclimatization, he played the rest of the 2014 season as a regular player. During the 2015 season it was always used at the beginning. At the end of the season he only came on short assignments and ended his career at the end of the season.
National team
Pasanen debuted in the senior team on 15 November 2000 in Dublin in 0: 3 defeat against Ireland . He scored his only goal on September 5, 2009 for the 2-1 final against Azerbaijan. He made one last game for Finland on November 16, 2013 as a substitute in a 1-1 draw against Wales. During his time as a national player, he often led the team as captain on the field. Pasanen also played in 6 games for the Finnish national futsal team and scored 2 goals.
