The HMS Supreme (P252) was a British Royal Navy submarine during World War II .

history

The Supreme ( English : unchangeable , highest or highest ) was a boat of the fourth batch of the British S-Class . This lot is also known as the Subtle class . The submarine was launched on February 15, 1943 at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead , northwest England, was launched on February 24, 1944 and was put into service by the Royal Navy on May 20, 1944.

The Royal Navy deployed the submarine under the command of Lt.  TE Barlow in the Asian theater of war .

Between November 26 and December 1, 1944, the Supreme sank a total of seven Japanese sailing ships with the deck gun off the Andamans .

Between March 1 and March 10, 1945, four sailing ships and a coaster with artillery were sunk off the east coast of Sumatra ( Dutch East Indies ) .

In the Gulf of Siam :

  • on May 7, 1945 two coasters and a sailing ship,
  • a Japanese auxiliary patrol boat on July 1, 1945 ,
  • on July 12, 1945 a small Japanese unit,
  • on July 14, 1945 a tug and a barge
  • and on July 15, 1945 three coasters

sunk with the on-board cannon.

The HMS Supreme was converted into a training target in 1947, but sank shortly afterwards. The wreck was lifted, examined, sold for scrapping in 1949 and broken up in Troon in 1950 .
