HMS Storm was a British Royal Navy submarine during World War II .
history
The Storm ( ger .: Storm ) was a boat of the third construction lot of the successful S-Class . This lot is also known as the Seraph class . The boat was launched on June 23, 1942 at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead , northwest England, was launched on May 18, 1943 and was commissioned by the Royal Navy on August 23, 1943.
The Navy continued the boat under the command of Lt. Edward P. Young in the Asian theater of war .
On March 12, 1944, Boot sank a small Japanese unit with the deck gun in Malakka Street . On April 15 torpedierte and put the Storm before the Andaman at 11 ° 34 ' N , 93 ° 8' O the Japanese minesweeper W 7 (738 ts ). On June 18 torpedoed and sank them from Penang ( Malaya ) at 5 ° 59 ' N , 99 ° 10' O the Japanese auxiliary gunboat Eiko Maru (3011 GRT ). Two days later, the German submarine U 1062 was unsuccessfully attacked with torpedoes in Malakka Street . The Storm recessed on July 23, 1944 before Port Owen (Andaman Islands) at 14 ° 0 ' N , 96 ° 50' O Japanese military transport Kiso Maru (554 t) and two patrol boats with on-board artillery. On August 1st, four sailing ships were sunk off the Mergui Islands ( Burma ). Five smaller Japanese units followed on September 2. Between October 29 and November 2, the boat sank eleven Japanese sailing ships in the Gulf of Boni ( Sulawesi ).
The Storm was sold for scrapping in 1949 and scrapped in Faslane on Clyde in October of that year .
