The HTL Pinkafeld ( higher technical federal teaching and research institute ) is an Austrian vocational higher school based in Pinkafeld in Burgenland . It includes four study departments in the engineering fields of civil engineering , electronics , building technology and electronic data processing .
A boarding school for the school with a large catchment area in an area with poor transport infrastructure is connected.
history
With the conquest of the Burgenland from Hungary to Austria in 1921, the Burgenland with Sopron / Ödenburg , which remained with Hungary, lost the main location for higher education. Until the late 1950s there were only general secondary schools in Eisenstadt , Mattersburg and Oberschützen for the population of the eastern part of Austria , but no vocational secondary schools.
On July 13, 1958, a committee was formed to promote the establishment of a technical college (HTL) based in Pinkafeld. In 1964, the federal government finally approved the construction of an HTL, whereby a mechanical engineering department and then an electronics department should be set up. On September 3, 1967, the school began with 147 students.
From the 1975/76 school year, a construction engineering department was also launched. In the meantime, the then director Oskar Dlabik was busy with the completion of the building, the development of the curriculum and the establishment of a boarding school .
The number of pupils rose continuously from 147 pupils in 1967 until it reached a temporary high in the 1981/82 school year with 1067 pupils.
By the IT - boom in the early 1990s, it took a the decision EDP founding Department, which went into service in the school year 1991/92.
In 2006 the HTL was expanded to include the research institutes for building technology , automation , environmental and safety technology, so that the HTL became an HTLuVA.
Ilse Fiala-Thier, under whose direction the highest student level of more than 1400 students could be reached, retired at the end of 2015. The establishment of the evening school, first in the IT department, then for building equipment, from the 2009/10 school year onwards, contributed significantly to the achievement of this number of students. At the beginning of 2016, the former head of the IT department, Wilfried Lercher, was entrusted with the management of the school.
On June 23, 2017, the school celebrated its 50th anniversary. For this purpose, a "Walk of Education" was set up in the entrance area, while the actual ceremony took place in the presence of Governor Hans Niessl in the gym of the adjoining boarding school. A special postage stamp was also issued on this occasion, which was presented to Director Wilfried Lercher during the festivities.
Since the 2017/18 school year, the building technology department has been expanded to include additional training in fire and civil protection. In cooperation with the Burgenland Fire Brigade Association, the Red Cross and the Civil Protection Association, the pupils are offered training in fire and rescue services. Since many of the students are in boarding school during school time, the training is also spread to the fire brigades in their home towns.
School types
Construction engineering
- Higher education institute for structural engineering with the training courses building construction , timber construction and civil engineering , 5 years old with Matura
- Technical school for construction technology, training course bricklayer and carpenters , 4-year-old without Matura
The construction department was founded in 1975 because there was strong demand from trained construction technicians. In 1978 a four-year technical school was also set up. In 1995, the building construction training track was added. In 2000, the first laptop class in Burgenland was set up in the construction department.
Computer science
- Higher education institute for computer science , 5 years old with Matura
- Higher education institute for employed persons for computer science (2-semester preparatory college and 6-semester IT college)
The HLA for Informatics (until 2010 EDVO ) was founded in 1991/92. There are also bilingual classes where almost all subjects are taught in German and English. Since the 2009/10 school year there has also been an IT college for employed people.
Department of Electronics and Technical Informatics
- Department for electronics and technical informatics, 5 years old with high school diploma
- Higher college for electronics, I. to III. vintage
- Higher education institute for electronics, training focus on control and automation technology or autonomous robotics, (school trial according to § 7 SchOG)
After the Second World War , the main focus was on securing the energy supply, especially the construction of power plants and electrification. Therefore, an HLA for electrical engineering was established as a second department. Since the computer always played an increasingly important role, the decision was made to switch from electrical engineering to electronics with a focus on computer and control technology. Since 1997/98 there has been bilingual teaching at HLA Electronics .
Department and technical school for building equipment, college for facility management
- Department of Mechanical Engineering , 5-year Matura
- Higher education institute for technical building equipment , 1st and 2nd year (curriculum 98)
- Higher education institute for technical building equipment, training Schwp. Technical building equipment and energy planning
- Technical school for mechanical engineering, 4-year-old without Matura
- Facility Management College (2 years)
This department became known mainly because it was the only mechanical engineering department in Austria for a long time. Since 2004 it has also been possible to attend a facility management college . Since 2006 there has been a technical school for mechanical engineering, installation and eco-energy.
