Hagstedt is a farming community in the southwest of the municipality of Visbek in the district of Vechta ( Lower Saxony ), in the Oldenburger Münsterland . It consists of the village of Hagstedt, the Hagstedt settlement about one kilometer south of it, and the Theesen farmstead in the southwest, beyond the B69 . The distance from the village of Hagstedt to the center of Visbeck is about 4.5 kilometers. The peasantry was mentioned as Hagestaltstedi as early as the 11th century , after Jellinghaus this place name means "place of a small owner, a Hagestolzen ".

Geography and landscape

Hagstedt is located immediately south of the L873 Visbek– Schneiderkrug state road . The district road K308 crosses the town in a north-south direction, from the village of Hagstedt to the settlement Hagstedt. The federal highway 69 leading from Langförden to Schneiderkrug cuts through the west of the peasantry. The Cloppenburg driveway of the A1 federal motorway is about 3 kilometers to the west of Hagstedt.

The flat geest landscape is characterized by fruit and arable farming, with strawberry cultivation being of particular importance. The townscape is dominated by well-tended farms, some of which are half-timbered.

Between the extensive fruit fields in Hagstedt on the old Reuterweg road, there is a large weeping beech tree that is tended by the village community. A wayside cross has been erected under the hanging branches of the old tree.

In the northwest of the peasantry, in the corridor Vor Heckmanns Straße , is 64  m above sea level. NN the highest point in the municipality of Visbek.

The Weser-Ems watershed runs through the northeastern tip of the peasantry from southeast to northwest . Here - on the Tiefen Schlatt - the Vechtaer Moorbach rises .

Administration, school system, customs

Hagstedter district chairman is Burkhard Penkhues (as of February 20, 2020) . The farmers have their own primary school. The Hagstedter coat of arms shows a "crossbow" as a reference to the traditional rifle club of the farmers; this was founded in 1806 and is the oldest shooting club in the municipality of Visbek. The shooting festival is celebrated every year on the church holiday Peter and Paul ( June 29th ). At Easter the custom of is Easter fire maintained.

Hagstedt was able to win a gold medal in the national competition Our village should be more beautiful in 1983.

Public transport

As part of the Verkehrsgemeinschaft Landkreis Vechta , Hagstedt is connected to the local public transport in the Landkreis Vechta by bus lines from Moobilplus Vechta ( moobil + ).
