The Hammer SC 2008 (officially: Hammer Sport Club 2008 eV ) is a sports club from Hamm . With over 5,000 members in 20 departments, it is the largest sports club in the city. The women's fistball team plays in the Bundesliga .

history

Hammer SC 2008 was created on July 1, 2008 through the merger of TSV Berge 09, founded in 1909, with SC Westtünnen, founded in 1951 . On July 1, 2011, BSV Rot-Weiß Hamm and on March 1, 2012, TV Westfalia Hamm, founded in 1891, joined Hammer SC 2008. In 2013 the Westfalia Rhynern association thought about a merger with Hammer SC 2008, but this did not materialize.

In addition to fistball, HSC 2008 also offers American sports, badminton , archery , football , handball , hapkido , canoeing , kickboxing , athletics , swimming , acrobatics , taekwondo , dancing , tennis , table tennis , triathlon , gymnastics , volleyball and hiking .

Fistball

The roots of the fistball department lie with TV Westfalia Hamm, which has been German champion 24 times and European cup winner twice. After the 2011 field season, the teams competed under the name Hammer SC 2008, with the women's team playing in the Bundesliga. From this, the Hammerinnen descended after the indoor season 2012/13. The team currently plays in the association league. The men's team competes in the 2nd Bundesliga. Major players on TV Westfalia were Jan Hoffrichter and Olaf Machelett .

The most successful home club in football was SC Westtünnen, which caused a sensation in the mid-1970s.
