Handball East German Oberliga (women) 1979/80

The East German handball championship of the women was with the season 1979/80 held for the 30th time. The TSC Berlin could point loss freely defend his title from last year and achieved by 1974 , 1977 and 1979 his fourth championship. In addition to TSG Wismar , the newcomer Sachsenring Zwickau also had to leave the upper house. The top scorer was Kornelia Kunisch from SC Magdeburg with 116/38 goals and Katrin Krüger from ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt / O. with 116/55 goals.
