Final hall

(February 17, 1962)

SC Rotation Berlin - BSG Progress Weissenfels 5: 6 SC Rotation had a home game in the sold-out Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in East Berlin , but had to replace its two injured national players Marlies Biener and Monika Parlow. Although Weißenfels took the lead in the first minute thanks to Inge Jahn, the game was then evenly balanced. Thanks to a well-sorted 4: 2 bar, Rotation initially got the opposing attackers under control and was able to take a 3: 2 lead through a goal by Jutta Wörpel. After that, the progress women put in an intermediate sprint and pulled away to 6: 3. Weißenfels cover had gained in self-confidence in the meantime and was now sure to intercept the still dangerous Berliners Nocka and Wörpel. Late, three minutes before the end of the game, the SC Rotation went over to man marking and thus embarrassed the Weißenfels women again. The rotation came up to 5: 6, but the progress women could defend their lead until the final whistle. Thanks to its superiority in running, the BSG Progress Weissenfels was finally deservedly indoor champion for the fourth time.

Endgame field

(October 14, 1962)

BSG progress Weissenfels - SC Empor Rostock 10: 4

After the championship title in 1961/62, BSG Progress Weissenfels also won the 1962 title on the field. Against SC Empor Rostock, the final win was more confident than six months ago in the hall. The Weißenfels team demonstrated their technical merits with their first goal by Irene Maudrich, which was a combination of seven stations. While they routinely designed their game, the Rostock women went to work without self-confidence. Rostock clumsily bridged the midfield and barely had a chance against the harmonious Weissenfels defense, which was carefully directed by goalkeeper Martina Hoffmann. The otherwise dangerous upward attackers Karin Sorge and Ingrid Lemcke quickly gave up. The injury to her goalkeeper Renate Jockenhöfer also had an inhibiting effect. When Weißenfels was already leading 3-0 after twelve minutes, the game was practically decided. After that, the Weißenfelser Sturm determined the events at will and the women around director Inge Schanding delighted the audience with combinations on the assembly line. The women of the BSG Progress deservedly won their tenth championship title.
