Handball GDR Oberliga (women) 1964/65

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GDR women's handball league for the 1964/65 season was used to determine the champions in the hall and on the field . The women's indoor championship was won by SC Leipzig , while the women of SC Empor Rostock defended their title on the field .

Indoor championship

For the first time, the champion in indoor handball for women was determined in a single-track league. Last year's third SC Leipzig made the race unbeaten, three points ahead of the third of the previous season, SC Empor Rostock. With third place, an era finally came to an end for BSG Progress Weissenfels . After the last title win in the hall in 1964, the Weißenfels team finally said goodbye to the top field of women's handball. Because of the reduction from twenty to ten teams, there were no promoters from the handball substructure in 1964/65. The SC Einheit Dresden and the BSG Post Halberstadt had to dismount .

Field championship

Point games

For the last time the championship was held on the field with 20 teams. They were again divided into two seasons, but because of the upcoming women's World Cup in December, between April and July 1965 only a simple round of points took place. The season winners SC Empor Rostock and BSG Empor Halloren Halle determined the new champion in a final. Since from the 1965/66 season onwards, the field championship was only held in a single-track league comprising ten teams, only the five best teams in each season qualified for the new field season.

Endgame - field

(July 4, 1965)

SC Empor Rostock - BSG Halloren Hall 5: 1

The last women's field handball final was won by defending champion SC Empor Rostock. The SC Empor had to do without its national players because of the upcoming women's world championship, but the BSG Halloren also had to cope with a handicap. Two days before they had to play a playoff to win the relay against progress Weissenfels, which they only won 9: 8 after two extra times. Nevertheless, the indoor women dominated initially and took the lead 1-0. Despite the equalizing goal by Preuss, Rostock was under pressure for a quarter of an hour and it was only thanks to their sure goalkeeper that Halle did not score any more goals. The Rostock women also had a hard time scoring goals at the beginning, the Halloren defense was secure. As the playing time increased, the stamina of the indoor players decreased and Rostock's routine gained the upper hand. Above all on the right side, successful attacks were started that were ultimately decisive for the game.

Goal scorers Rostock: Preuss (2), Kikillus, Hauptmann, Soldan - goal scorer Halle: Müller - 14 meters: three for Rostock (two transformed), one for Halle (not transformed) - expositions: Apel, Diettmann (Rostock)
Referee: Siebert ( Güsten ) - spectators: 700 in Staßfurt
