The East German handball championship of the women was with the season 1984/85 held for the 35th time. The ASK forward Frankfurt / O. won his third championship after 1982 and 1983 without losing points. With the BSG Einheit / Sirokko Neubrandenburg and the BSG Halloren Halle , teams from the House of Lords were relegated again after three years.
The top scorer was Kerstin Nindel from SC Leipzig with 111 goals (44 of them seven meters ) .
