Hans Dieter Zeidler (born January 19, 1926 in Bremen , † October 25, 1998 in Zurich ) was a German actor and voice actor .

biography

Zeidler attended a drama school in Bremen and then received theater engagements a. a. in Oldenburg, at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg , in Berlin, Darmstadt, at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich , in Frankfurt am Main, in Vienna ( Burgtheater ), at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and in Bonn. For his services to the stage, he was appointed state actor .

Since the early 1950s , he has also taken on many roles in film and television productions. He played the title role in Franz Peter Wirth's Der arme Mann Luther , in Robert A. Stemmle's film version Emil and the Detectives based on the novel by Erich Kästner , alongside Klaus Maria Brandauer in a television production of Shakespeare's Was ihr wollt (directed by Otto Schenk ) and made guest appearances in television series such as Derrick , Der Alte and Der Kommissar .

In addition, he has worked extensively in dubbing since 1951 and has lent his distinctive voice to internationally known acting colleagues such as Harry Belafonte ( Carmen Jones ), Ernest Borgnine (including Die Poseidon's Infernal Journey ), Yul Brynner ( The Karamazov Brothers ), Montgomery Clift ( Das Land of the Rain Tree ), Burt Lancaster ( Local Hero ), Charles Laughton ( Lés Miserablés ), Sidney Poitier (including The Seeds of Violence ), Rod Steiger ( The Innocents with Dirty Hands ), Rod Taylor ( Girls Without Dowry ), Peter Ustinov (including Three Foreign Legionnaires and Escape to the 23rd Century ), Eli Wallach ( Zapfenstreich ), Howard Lang ( The Onedin Line ) and Orson Welles ( Catch 22 ).

His grave can be found in the Enzenbühl cemetery in Zurich.
