Hans-Holger Albrecht

Hans-Holger Albrecht (born July 29, 1963 in Brussels ) is a German lawyer and manager and has been CEO of Deezer , based in Paris, since 2015 .

Life

Hans-Holger Albrecht was born in Brussels, Belgium , to Heidi Adele and Ernst Albrecht , where his father worked for the European Commission . In 1971 the family moved to Germany, where Ernst Albrecht became Prime Minister of Lower Saxony (1976–1990). One of his six siblings is the former Federal Defense Minister and currently elected EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen . Hans-Holger Albrecht grew up in the Burgdorf district of Beinhorn . He studied at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Yale (USA) and Bochum , where he graduated as a lawyer .

Hans-Holger Albrecht has seven children. He lives in Niederthai near Umhausen .

Career

Hans-Holger Albrecht started at Daimler-Benz in 1990 . From 1991 to 1996 he worked for the media group CLT , where he was responsible for all television activities and business development in Germany and Eastern Europe . He worked on new projects for RTL II in Germany, RTL 7 in Poland , RTL 1 in Hungary and Channel 5 in Great Britain. He was also responsible for the launch of Super RTL in Germany and for the development of CLT's digital television project Club RTL .

In 1997 he moved to the Modern Times Group as head of the pay TV division in the Viasat Broadcasting division , and in 1999 he was appointed head of the entire division, which also made him responsible for the free TV division. In April 2000 he was appointed COO of MTG. On October 1, 2000, he became Chairman and CEO of MTG AB. In 2005, he resigned as chairman of the board of directors of the Metro International newspaper group because he had made a joke that was perceived as racist. During his tenure, MTG's sales doubled from 5.4 billion Swedish kronor to 13.5 billion in 2011.

In November 2012, Hans-Holger Albrecht joined Millicom as President and CEO . In 2013 and 2014 , he transformed the mobile communications company, which is focused on the markets in Latin America and Africa , into a digital lifestyle group by introducing new digital products and services .

Hans-Holger Albrecht has been CEO of Deezer since February 2015 .
