Beinhorn is the smallest district of Burgdorf in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

geography

The district, which has around 140 inhabitants, is located on the K 112 district road, around 5 kilometers west of the center of Burgdorf and 3 kilometers west of Heeßel .

The place lies between the Altwarmbüchener Moor and the Oldhorster Moor in a wooded area.

history

Beinhorn was first mentioned in a document in 1298. Due to the location between the two moors, peat mining was an important economic pillar of the town for a long time. The peat mining continued until shortly after the Second World War .

On March 1, 1974, Beinhorn was incorporated into the city of Burgdorf.

Between 1979 and 1982 the federal motorway 37 was expanded to the historic Moormühle. In this context, the place received a motorway connection.

coat of arms

The design of the municipal coat of arms of Beinhorn comes from the heraldist and coat of arms painter Gustav Völker , who designed all coats of arms in the Hanover region. The approval of the coat of arms was granted by the district president in Lüneburg on January 28, 1964.

Beinhorn coat of arms
Blazon : "In green above a silver bar, a growing , golden lion , below a silver millstone , covered with a black mill iron ."
Justification of the coat of arms: The growing lion indicates the free jurisdiction that the municipality of Beinhorn once had together with the municipalities of Wettmar , Thönse , Engensen , Otze , Weferlingsen , Heeßel , Kolshorn and Ramlingen . The silver millstone with the mill iron is intended to commemorate the now destroyed, legendary "Moormühle", which belonged to the municipality of Beinhorn and was located near the current restaurant "Zur Moormühle" on the main road.
