Hans-Ulrich Krantz

Hans-Ulrich Friedrich Wilhelm Krantz (born June 24, 1906 in Berlin ; † August 15, 1976 in Buxtehude ) was a German officer, most recently major general in the Bundeswehr .

Life

Promotions

Reichswehr

Krantz joined the 5th (Prussian) Infantry Regiment of the Reichswehr in Greifswald in 1925 . In 1925/26 he was a flag junior in the 2nd (Prussian) motor vehicle department in Schwerin. In 1926 he passed the Fahnenjunker examination in the 3rd (Prussian) motor vehicle department. From 1926 to 1929 he attended the infantry school in Dresden , where he took the officer examination. In 1929 he did service in the 3rd company of the 2nd (Prussian) motor vehicle department in Kolberg . From 1930 to 1933 Krantz was a recruiter in the 1st and 3rd motor vehicle departments in Königsberg , Döberitz and Elsgrund-Wünsdorf. From 1933 to 1935 he was an officer for special use in the Army High Command in Berlin.

Wehrmacht

From 1935 to 1937 he was adjutant of the tank reconnaissance department 3 in Stahnsdorf and the tank training department in Wünsdorf . From 1937 to 1939 he attended the general staff course at the War Academy in Berlin. In 1939/40 he was Ib and Ic in the 4th light division . From 1940 to 1943 he was assigned to the training department of the Army General Staff. From July to August 1943 he was Ia of Army Group B . In 1943/44 he then became chief of the general staff in the inspection for education and training in the high command of the army. From November 1944 to May 1945 he was Ia in the 1st Panzer Division . In May 1945 he was briefly Ia III. Panzer Corps . He was then taken prisoner of war , where he remained until 1947.

In 1947/48 he worked as an accountant at Schermau Castle near Dingolfing . In 1948/49 he was assistant director at the state registration company . From 1949 to 1951 he worked as a consultant (organization) in the Federal President's Office in Bonn. From 1951 to 1956 he was head of the order's chancellery.

In 1956 he joined the Bundeswehr . 1956/57 he was a sub-department head in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn. From 1957 to 1960 he was a member of the Army headquarters in Bonn. In February 1958 he completed an observer training in the USA . In 1960/61 he was deputy commander of the 1st Panzer Grenadier Division in Hanover. In 1961/62 he was finally commander of the 3rd Panzer Division in Buxtehude. From 1962 to 1966 he was Deputy Commanding General of the 1st Corps in Münster.

He was married.
