Hans Christoph von Jeetze

Hans Christoph von Jeetze (born June 12, 1694 in Flessau ; † April 28, 1754 in Neustadt-Eberswalde ) was the Prussian major general and chief of garrison regiment No. 7 .

Life

origin

His parents were the Kurbrandenburger Kornet Adam Friedrich von Jeetze († March 2, 1717) and Hedwig Elisabeth von Eichstedt († March 10, 1739) from the house of Eichstedt. Lieutenant General Adam Friedrich von Jeetze was his brother.

Military career

Jeetze went into Prussian service in 1711 and joined the "Kronprinz" infantry regiment No. 6 . In 1713 he was transferred to Infantry Regiment "Kameke" No. 23 and there on February 18, 1718 ensign . He was a participant in the Pomeranian Campaign in 1715/16 and during the storming of the Peenemünder Schanze and the siege of Stralsund .

On October 30, 1718 Jeetze was second lieutenant , and on July 10, 1723 First Lieutenant , 1730 Staff Captain and on March 28, 1734 captain . After that he was successful as a recruiter in Hungary until 1740. On October 1, 1740, he was appointed major by the new King Friedrich II . In the First Silesian War he fought in the Battle of Mollwitz and distinguished himself in the battle near Beraum. During the Second Silesian War he fought in Hohenfriedberg and Thrush . Many members of his regiment fell in the latter, including the chief. He himself was shot in the head, a blow shot in the neck and half of his face was burned in one shot.

He was able to recover, but the bullet in his head kept causing pain and he was no longer fit for the field. On March 19, 1746 he became a colonel and was given the No. 7 garrison regiment. Shortly before his death, he asked for his departure, which was granted to him on April 14, 1754 as major general. He died on April 28, 1754 in Neustadt-Eberswalde and is also buried there.

He was married to Sophia Fridericke von Hessig (* 1724, † 1794) since August 10, 1746. She was the daughter of Privy Councilor Johann Heinrich von Hessig and his wife Maria Dorothea von Lüderitz. The marriage remained without children.
