Hans Peter Danuser

Hans Peter Danuser von Platen (born July 31, 1947 in Chur ; formerly Hans Peter Danuser ; also Hanspeter ) is a Swiss tourism manager . From 1978 to 2008 he was the spa director of St. Moritz . He is considered an important person in Swiss tourism . Among other things, he had the place name “St. Moritz ”as a trademark , which led to the Wall Street Journal title .

Life and activity

Danuser grew up in Felsberg in the canton of Graubünden . He studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and obtained his doctorate in 1975 under Paul Weilenmann at the University of Zurich on the subject of " The job description and training of airhostess ". From 1975 to 1977 he worked in product management at Nestlé Switzerland and was company and battalion commander in the Swiss mountain infantry for around fifteen years . Danuser has been playing the alphorn since 1982 .

From 1978 to 2008 he was the spa director of St. Moritz. In this role, Danuser sponsored new events (such as the windsurf marathon (1978), the inline marathon (1996), the St. Moritz Polo World Cup on Snow (1985) and the Gourmet Festival St. Moritz (1994)), des Furthermore, the Heidiland brand (1978) and a relaunch of the Glacier Express (1982), the Bernina Express (1984) and the Palm Express (1986). Danuser has received numerous prizes and awards for his work and results. In 1999 the SonntagsZeitung named him “Head of the Century”. In 2003 the tourism magazine Graubünden named him “Bündner of the year”. His work in St. Moritz was also criticized. Weltwoche accused him of having "transformed the Graubünden mountain community into a luxurious ghost town". The mountain village has "degenerated into a two-class society".

From 2008 to 2012 Danuser headed the Deutsche Bank representative office in St. Moritz. From 2010 to 2015 he lectured on brand management at the ETH Zurich . Together with his wife Amelie-Claire von Platen, he has been running a family company for strategy, network and culture advice since 2011. The blog “Danuser von Platen - Zeitzeichen” appears on the portal of the daily newspaper Die Südostschweiz , which now has around two million readers.

Danuser initiated the event "Alphorns instead of halberds!", Which he held together with the Federal Yodelling Association and Presence Switzerland in Milan on September 26, 2015: 400 alphorn players celebrated with concerts in Milan at the World Exhibition Expo 2015 and on the Piazza del Duomo (Milan ) 500 years of Swiss neutrality, 200 years of Swiss peace and independence and announced the opening of the world's longest railway tunnel, the Gotthard Base Tunnel . Danuser has been a member of the "Alphorn Ensemble Engiadina St. Moritz" since 1992.
