Hans von Sparneck (bailiff)

Hans von Sparneck (* around 1380 ; † between 1430 and 1440 ) was a knight and bailiff in Münchberg . It is also documented as the Reichsschultheiß of Nuremberg .

Von Sparneck family

He came from the noble family von Sparneck , who were based in Weißdorf , among other places , and owned the moated castle there. He was the son of Hans von Sparneck , court master of the burgrave Friedrich von Nürnberg .

His wife was Anna Förtsch zu Weißdorf and Poppenreuth , the children were called Arnold, Hans and Else. Else was married to Konrad von Lüchau . In 1438, his son Hans and some of his friends and acquaintances attacked the knight Heinrich von Witzleben in order to practice vigilante justice. He managed to escape only with difficulty.

As members of the Weissdorf line of the Sparneck family, Hans and his son Arnold also owned Libá Castle in Libá (Liebenstein). Hans sold it to the von Zedtwitz family on July 22, 1426 .

Peace alliance

On June 4, 1422, Hans von Sparneck stayed at Schleiz Castle , where a state peace alliance to secure the highways against robbery and drudgery was concluded between Elector Friedrich of Brandenburg and Landgrave Friedrich the Elder , Wilhelm and Friedrich the Younger of Thuringia , and mutual aid was promised . Hans von Sparneck had to undertake to ensure that his successor in the position of bailiff von Münchberg in Weida confessed to the concluded peace alliance. Among those present were other officials such as Caspar von Waldenfels , Conrad von Aufseß , Erhart von Machwitz , Oswalt von Truhendingen , Hans von Seebach and Apel von Vitzthum the Elder .

Hussite War

On October 13, 1427, several Sparneckers, in addition to Hans and Arnold also members of the Stein line, complained to the Council of Eger against the von Redwitz family , who allegedly induced the Sparneck feudal people from Redwitz and Dörflas to disobey, so that there was no car for the Hussite war campaign could be asked. On January 25, 1430 the Hussites were at court . The captain there was Caspar von Waldenfels . After the conquest of Plauen, the margrave formed the resistance there, including Hans von Kotzau and around 80 horsemen. Hans von Sparneck faced the Hussites as Frederick's ambassador and negotiator . In the fighting, his son Arnold lost his horse and got a replacement.
