Hansjürgen Tuengerthal (born March 8, 1936 in Waltershausen , Thuringia) is a German lawyer , lawyer and specialist author .

Youth and Studies

Hansjürgen Tuengerthal is the oldest of four children of a Protestant pastor. Growing up in Thuringia , his family moved to the West after the war. In 1970 the law firm Tuengerthal and Liebenau was founded in Ladenburg , which later moved to Schriesheim . At the beginning of the office activity there was a food law focus. In this function, the law firm has been involved in the privatization of municipal companies, accompanied the EC legal approval of food companies, advocated the implementation of Community law in German law in a large number of legal proceedings, and participated in legislation at European level. In addition, there were special topics in food law, customs law, business law as well as labor law and social law issues from the perspective of medium-sized companies. In 2007, a branch of the law firm was founded in Heidelberg , which moved to Mannheim in 2011. Cooperation with the Institute for National and International Meat Industry (IFW) in Heidelberg was also intensified. The activity of the law firm in Brussels led to the establishment of a branch of the law firm in Brussels in 2009 and admission to the bar in Brussels.

Hansjürgen Tuengerthal is currently involved on the entrepreneurial side, especially for work contracts , temporary work and minimum wages . To this end, he has founded a working group for work contracts and temporary work (AWZ) based in Mannheim , which he chairs as president. The managing director is attorney Michael Rothenhöfer. The EEZ holds regular seminars for entrepreneurs.

Hansjürgen Tuengerthal became known to the general public through a trial against the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland , which he led in 2010 for the German industrialist Hans Raab . Because of the alleged illegal official closure of his indoor fish farm - allegedly the largest in the world - Tuengerthal demanded 104 million Swiss francs in damages. The process ended with a serious illness and the subsequent death of the plaintiff. Tuengerthal represented in the so-called "Marmeladenkrieg" in 2010 a lawsuit by the German percentages Zentis against the Austrian manufacturer Darbo before the Cologne Regional Court . The process was lost in the first instance, the two opponents then reached an out of court settlement.
