Harald Kurt Tauber (born August 30, 1971 in Eisenstadt , Burgenland ) is an Austrian singer ( tenor ), actor and musical performer .

biography

Harald Tauber grew up in Upper Austria and, after finishing elementary school, attended the music class at the federal upper level secondary school in Wiener Neustadt , Lower Austria . There he first played the trumpet, but took singing lessons at the age of sixteen and soon received a scholarship to begin studying vocal pedagogy after graduating from the Josef Matthias Hauer Conservatory in Wiener Neustadt. During this time he successfully took part in singing competitions in Lower Austria and Vienna as a singer in a double quartet.

After successfully completing his studies, he moved to the state capital Vienna and completed further studies at the local conservatory in the field of “musicals, operettas and chansons” under the direction of Lilo Mrazek and Robert Opratko with distinction. During his apprenticeship he already took on several leading roles, including in Goethe's Die Mitschuldigen , Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne , Arian - the Celtic musical , Into the Woods , The Rocky Horror Show and Jesus Christ Superstar . Later he took additional advanced courses with Geraldine Armstrong, Dennis Callahan (dance) and Michael Pinkerton (interpretation).

Immediately after graduation, he was brought to the United Stages in Vienna for the world premiere of Tanz der Vampire , where he then performed in Mozart! and Jekyll & Hyde was on display. Further engagements at home and abroad followed, including the German premiere of Dracula in Tecklenburg and Falco meets Amadeus at the Wörtherseefestspiele Klagenfurt , Carinthia . He moved to Cologne for the German premiere of We Will Rock You , in which he was allowed to work with Brian May and Roger Taylor , the founders of the rock group Queen .

At the world premiere of Tutankhamun in Gutenstein , Lower Austria , Harald Tauber created the role of Ofir and can also be heard on the CD of the same name. The collaboration was continued in the following season, where he played the role of Koloman Moser in Gustav Klimt . For two years in a row he toured Germany as a soloist and deputy artistic director for Musical Fieber . During the Tecklenburg Open Air Theater in 2010, he appeared as Duke of Buckingham in 3 Musketeers and as Diesel in West Side Story . In 2011 he was seen at the Frankfurter Komödie as the band leader Alex in What a feeling and at the theater im centrum in Kassel as a dentist and plant in Der kleine Horrorladen . He played the seaman Jack Driscoll in King Kong at the KATiELLi Theater in Datteln and stood u. a. on stage as Monsignore O'Hara and Curtis Jackson for the Sister Act production by Stage Entertainment in the Apollo Theater Stuttgart and in the Metronom Theater Oberhausen. In 2016–17 he was seen as Count Rettenberg in Ludwig² at the Füssen Festival Hall . At the theater in the historical center in Kassel in 2016 he played Martino Brando in Rock The Block - The Elvis musical , junior in the world premiere of camping fever and finally Pep Strotzkowski in baby Kracher - Sing! Swing! Pregnant!

In 2015 he performed at the theater im centrum Kassel with the play Heavenly rocked! made his debut as a playwright and producer.

In addition to his work as a musical performer, he organized several galas for the benefit of the Austrian Cancer Aid and produced the CDs Freiheit and Traumwelt , before founding a theater agency under his own name in 2011 and the band Mates in Rock in Kassel in 2012 . He worked as a music teacher at the Rodenkirchen grammar school and teaches singing and piano at the Söhre-Kaufunger Wald music school in Kaufungen near Kassel.

Despite his artistic talent, he is neither related to the Austrian tenor Richard Tauber (1891–1948), nor to the Austrian stage actor of the same name Harald Tauber (1911–1948).
