Hartmut Wulfram

Hartmut Wulfram (* 1967 in Lüneburg ) is a German classical philologist .

After studying classical philology and history at the Georg-August University in Göttingen , he passed the 1st state examination for teaching at grammar schools in 1997 ( Latin , Greek and history). From 1997 to 2001 he was a research assistant in the Göttingen Collaborative Research Center 529 Internationality of National Literature . In 2001, with the work Literary Vitruvius Reception in Leon Battista Alberti's De re aedificatoria and the Rigorosum in the subjects of Latin, Greek and Latin Philology of the Middle Ages and Modern Times, she received her doctorate . From 2002 to 2008 he was a research assistant at the Chair of Classical Philology, Bielefeld University , where he worked in 2007 with the work The Roman Versepistelbuch. A genre analysis was habilitated . From 2009 to 2012, interrupted by substitute professorships in Latin at the University of Leipzig (summer semester 2009) and the Technical University of Dresden (winter semester 2011/12 and 2012/13), he taught special tasks in classical philology, especially Latin philology, at the university Bielefeld. Since March 2013 he has held the professorship for New Latin Philology and Classical Latin Studies at the Institute for Classical Philology, Middle and New Latin at the University of Vienna .

Past and current research focuses are the biography and personality constructions in Roman and Neo-Latin texts, literary spatial concepts and topographies, Virgil , Horace , Ovid , Cicero , Vitruv , Curtius Rufus , Latin literature of the Italian Renaissance , especially the 15th century, Leon Battista Alberti and humanistic reception of antiquity north of the Alps.
