Heinrich Duration (born August 14, 1871 in Dölme , † February 25, 1952 in Geilenkirchen ) was a German architect and city architect for Düren in North Rhine-Westphalia for 32 years .

Life

At the age of 14, he began an apprenticeship as a carpenter and completed it with a journeyman's examination. He began an apprenticeship as a bricklayer with his brother in Wolfenbüttel . Until 1893 he attended the building trade school in Holzminden where he graduated as a technician for civil engineering.

From April 1, 1893 to January 15, 1894, Dauer worked as a technician for the sewer management in Braunschweig . In 1894 he passed the examination as an expert . From May 15, 1896 to October 31, 1896 he worked for the royal monastery administration in Hanover . He then worked until December 31, 1899 at the city ​​building authority in Wesel .

On March 10, 1900, Heinrich Dauer came to Düren as the second city architect and was appointed city ​​architect on February 25, 1907, his 36th birthday . At the same time he became head of the building construction department. On February 13, 1918 he was elected to lead the entire construction management and technical on July 15, 1919 Assistant Secretary and city building .

On June 13, 1923, Dauer was expelled from the French occupying forces and lived temporarily in Barmen . The expulsion was revoked in June 1924 and he was elected 1st alderman on July 25, 1924. On January 28, 1938, Heinrich Dauer retired because he was not re-elected. He now worked for various cities, namely Bergheim (swimming stadium), Camberg (expert opinion for regional planning), Münstereifel and Prüm ( development plans ). In December 1945 he was called back to Düren, where he worked until the end of 1947 on planning the reconstruction of the city ​​that was destroyed in the air raid on November 16, 1944 . From 1948 to 1952 he worked in Geilenkirchen, where he also died. On November 29, 1952, he was buried in the New Düren-Ost cemetery.
