Heinrich Günther von Witzleben

Karl Friedrich Heinrich Günther von Witzleben (born June 11, 1755 on Angelroda ; † April 17, 1825 ibid ) was Prussian major general and most recently inspector of the guards, garrison troops and invalids, and he was the hereditary lord of Angelroda and Elgersburg .

origin

His parents were the Prussian captain Albrecht Ernst Heinrich von Witzleben (* March 7, 1717; † May 22, 1761) and his wife Albertine Christiane Charlotte von Witzleben (* February 19, 1727; † March 12, 1818).

Life

He came Easter 1766 the monastery Roßleben at the Unstrut and remaining there until Easter 1771. On September 19, 1772, he came as Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment. 21, . After the war, he became major on February 18, 1798 , and then on November 16, 1805, was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion. In the Fourth Coalition War that followed , he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt , then took part in the retreat to Prenzlau, where he was captured after the surrender. He was then put inactive.

After the war he tried to get a job again in 1808 and was appointed inspector of the rifle factories in Spandau and Potsdam on October 7, 1809 . On April 13, 1812, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on March 18, 1813, he was appointed inspector of the reserve and garrison troops in the Margraviate of Brandenburg , where he made a special contribution to the training of the troops. On April 26, 1814 he was promoted to colonel and also inspector of the guards, garrison troops and invalids in the general command in Brandenburg and Pomerania. After the wars of liberation , he received the Iron Cross 2nd class on white ribbon on February 25, 1816 , and on July 15, 1816 the salary of a regimental commander for his services to the inspection . On September 19, 1818 he was appointed major general. On January 18, 1820, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 3rd class, and took his leave on April 14, 1820. But he got a salary as an inactive. He retired to his Angelroda estate, where he died on April 17, 1825.

He married on July 5, 1782 in Halberstadt the baroness Amalie Karoline Luise Wilhelmine von Wulffen (* July 1, 1766, † April 18, 1807) from the house of Füchteln. The couple had the following children:
