Hans Ludwig David Paul Heinrich Count Yorck von Wartenburg (born October 16, 1861 in Wroclaw ; † February 24, 1923 in Berlin ) was a Prussian district administrator , hereditary member of the Prussian manor and Fideikommissherr on Gut Klein-Öls .

Heinrich Graf Yorck von Wartenburg came from a family of large Silesian landowners . He was the great-grandson of the Prussian generals Louis Ferdinand Prince of Prussia and Johann David Ludwig Graf Yorck von Wartenburg .

Heinrich was the eldest son of the philosopher Paul Yorck von Wartenburg (1835–1897) and his wife Luise, born von Wildenbruch (1838–1918), a daughter of the Prussian consul general in Beirut and later lieutenant general Louis von Wildenbruch , and his first wife Ernestine von Langen , lady-in-waiting to Princess Radziwill . His uncle was the writer Ernst von Wildenbruch .

Life

Wartenburg studied after high school at the convent school Roßleben in Thuringia and later in Bonn and Breslau law . During his studies he joined the student union Corps Borussia Bonn . He received his doctorate as Dr. jur. From 1895 he was district administrator in Groß-Wartenberg and from 1898 to 1900 district administrator in Ohlau . From 1898 to 1918 Yorck von Wartenburg was a member of the Prussian manor house. From 1911 to 1921 he was a member of the Silesian Provincial Parliament . During the First World War he was head of administration in Vilnius and Suwałki . In 1921 he was a member of the dissolution office for family property in Wroclaw.

On October 3, 1896, he married Sophie Freiin von Berlichingen (1872–1945), a descendant of the Frankish knight Götz von Berlichingen, at Jagsthausen Castle . The marriage had ten children, including Peter , who was involved in the preparation of the assassination attempt of July 20, 1944 and executed in 1944 , as well as Paul , Irene and Bertha (1899–1950), who married Friedrich Carl Siemens (1877–1952).

Heinrich Yorck died unexpectedly during a visit to Berlin in the house of his aunt Lulu von Katte of the consequences of a stroke. He was buried on March 3, 1923 at the mausoleum of Count Yorck, in the park of Klein Oels.
