Heinrich Jakob Fried (born March 11, 1802 in Queichheim , Département du Mont-Tonnerre , today in Landau in the Palatinate , Rhineland-Palatinate , † November 2, 1870 in Munich ) was a German painter .

Life

Heinrich Jakob Fried trained at the art school in Augsburg and at the Academy in Munich under Johann Peter von Langer and Peter von Cornelius and initially turned mainly to history painting in the romantic sense. In 1830 he published a lithographic collection of views of historical monuments of the Palatinate under the title Remembrance of the Prehistoric Times, or the Rheinpfalz . From 1834 to 1837 he stayed in Italy , and in 1845 he was given the post of curator of the Kunstverein in Munich, which he held until his death.
