Heinrich Laufenberg (priest)
Heinrich Laufenberg , in older research literature Heinrich von Laufenberg (* between 1391 and 1399, possibly in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † March 31, 1460 in Strasbourg ) was a German priest , poet and non-fiction author in Switzerland and southwest Germany .
life and work
Laufenberg worked in 1421 as capellanus and viceplebanus at the Freiburg parish church. In 1445 Laufenberg, who is attested from 1433–1434 as dean in Zofingen and from 1441 as cathedral dean in Freiburg im Breisgau, joined the Johanniterhaus “Zum Grünen Wörth” of the Order of Malta in Strasbourg.
Laufenberg's extensive work was largely lost in the fire of the Strasbourg city library with his works in the library of the Johanniterkloster in the Franco-Prussian War in 1870.
In 1429 he wrote a regimen sanitatis ("Steering of Health", an astrological-dietetic health theory comprising about 6000 verses on 144 sheets ) that was later received beyond his sphere of activity (for example under the title Versehung des Leibs ) and is the lyricist of the hymns Oh dear Lord Jesus Christ ( EG 468) and I want me to be at home (EG 517).
