Heintje
Hendrik Nikolaas Theodoor "Hein" Simons (born August 12, 1955 in Bleijerheide ) is a Dutch pop singer who celebrated great success as a child star under the name Heintje . He became known in Germany for his hit Mama (performed for the first time in 1967 on the ZDF television show Der goldene Schuss ) and as an actor in six films from 1968 to 1971.
Career
The Dutch musician and producer Addy Kleijngeld found out about Heintje in 1966 through a tip. After he won a talent competition in Schaesberg with the Dutch version of the hit title Mamma , he was signed by Kleijngeld. Kleijngeld worked from then on as Heintjes manager and composed most of the singer's titles. In the same year Heintje recorded his first record in Dutch in Amsterdam .
He achieved great fame in German-speaking countries with the German version of his winning competition entry, which was presented to the public for the first time in October 1967. Mama - as the spelling is now used - stayed in the charts for 25 weeks, reached number 2 in the charts and was the best-selling single in Germany in 1968. With the following publications (including You shouldn't cry , a reinterpretation of the song Das Lied der Taube, composed by Ralph Maria Siegel in 1949 ), Heintje landed at number one on the German charts three times in a row, as well as other musical successes such as Snowdrop in February . This 1971 single stayed in the charts for 20 weeks, including 12 weeks in the top ten. The highest ranking was 4th place, and in the hit parade of NDR 2 Heintje was able to stay in the top ten for 33 weeks with this song. Within around four years, Heintje was awarded a total of 40 gold records , a platinum record , two golden lions from Radio Luxembourg , a Bambi and numerous other prizes for his singles and long-playing records . Its German producer was Ronny ( Studio Nord Bremen ) until 1976 . Most of the texts and compositions came from Hans Hee . Heintje has sold over 40 million records. Three LPs were released for the international market (USA, Canada, Australia) in English. In 1968, Heintje was discovered for the film. He initially played a supporting role in To the Devil with the Penne , before turning several films from 1969 onwards with leading roles specifically attributed to him. However, he did not have a career as an actor.
From 1973 onwards (comeback after changing voice , which he achieved at the age of sixteen and a half), Heintje was never able to completely detach himself from his image of the child star. Although he achieved a large fan base in South Africa in 1975 with two LPs recorded in Afrikaans , his success in Europe remained modest.
In 1979 Heintje sang a duet with Andrea Jürgens on the TV show "Zwischenmahlzeit", who was considered the female counterpart of the child star.
Hein Simons tried several comebacks, first under the name Heintje Simons , later as Hein Simons - whereby he was able to establish himself in the field of folk music in the mid-1990s . Since then he has been a guest on various television music programs and continues to release new albums. Simons appeared in December 2017 together with Hansi Kraus in the quiz show "Who knows something?" (Episode 267), moderated by Kai Pflaume .
Private
Until the 1980s, Heintje lived with his parents in Neu-Moresnet, a sub-municipality of Kelmis , and since then on a farm (Gut Schimper) in Moresnet, a sub-municipality of Plombières . Both municipalities are in Belgium . He runs a riding school . From 1981 to 2014 he was married to his wife Doris and has two sons and a daughter.
