Heinz Jacobsen (born September 26, 1940 in Kiel ) is a German sports official .

Career

Jacobsen was at Wellingdorfer TV, where he played fistball and table tennis among other things as a child and adolescent , from 1958 youth chairman and from 1964 to 1968 handball chairman. At the same time, he worked for the Kreishandballverband Kiel from 1964, initially as an assessor on the legal committee, from 1968 to 1970 as a legal attendant and from 1970 as a game attendant. 1974 Jacobsen was game manager of the handball association Schleswig-Holstein (HVSH) and at the same time male manager of the German Handball Federation (DHB) . In this capacity, he was instrumental in the commitment of the coach Vlado Stenzel involved, of the German national handball team , the 1978 World Cup won.

In 1980 he resigned from his position at DHB and was league chairman at the handball Bundesliga team THW Kiel until 1994 . Among other things, he hired the Icelandic coach Jóhann Ingi Gunnarsson , with whom THW was runner-up in 1983 and 1985 , as well as the later world handball player of the century Magnus Wislander , and was significantly involved in the spin-off of the Bundesliga handball team from the entire club, which was established in 1992 of THW Kiel Handball-Bundesliga Verwaltungs GmbH was completed. Since Heinz Jacobsen worked as a civil servant in the military counterintelligence service, he could not become managing director of the GmbH; this was instead Uwe Schwenker , whom he had signed as a player for the THW in 1980.

From 1984 to 1996 Jacobsen was also chairman of the HVSH and from 1994 to 2004 chairman of the men's handball national league association (HBVM), which represented the interests of the national handball team vis-à-vis the DHB. He has also been Vice President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Sports Association since 1995 and was President of HSV Hamburg from 2004 to 2005 , of which he became the first honorary member in 2008.

In 2002 Jacobsen was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class "for his outstanding and unselfish work for sport" , after he had received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 1994. At the HBL All-Star Game 2004 he was honored for his life's work and has been an honorary member of the DHB since 2008.
