Helmut Taudte

Helmut Taudte (born September 26, 1954 in Liebstedt ) is a former German track cyclist and former cycling trainer.

Athletic career

Helmut Taudte comes from Weimar and initially started for BSG Motor Weimar , and since summer 1970 for SC Turbine Erfurt . As a teenager, he was equally successful on the track and on the road, which was underlined by his victories in the 1000-meter time trial and team time trial on the road at the children's and youth spartakiad. He won his first title in 1970 in the road race of the BSG athletes' determination of the best in youth class B. His success in the junior round trip in Cottbus in 1972 proved his qualities as a good road driver. Nevertheless, in the men's area he put his priority on track cycling.

In 1975 he was with the team of his club DDR-runner in the team time trial . In 1978 he was runner-up in the GDR winter track championship and in 1975 and 1979 GDR champion in two-man team driving , and several times he also took podium places. At the end of his career, he also started standing races on the track in Erfurt's Andreasried .

Professional

Helmut Taudte worked at the Association of German Cyclists as a junior trainer for the endurance disciplines in track cycling . He retired at the end of 2018.
