Herbert Pixner
Herbert Pixner (born October 11, 1975 in Meran ) is a South Tyrolean musician , composer and music producer .
Life
Pixner grew up with five siblings on a mountain farm in Walten in Passeier (South Tyrol). From 1986 he learned clarinet and drums at the music school and from 1991 self-taught diatonic harmonica . In the course of time, other wood and brass instruments followed (e.g. flugelhorn , trumpet and tuba ) as well as saxophone and various percussion instruments.
From 1989 to 1992 he completed his apprenticeship as a carpenter and worked as a speaker for Styrian harmonica and clarinet at various folk music seminars throughout the Alpine region. In 1995 he began studying instrumental singing pedagogy (IGP), Styrian harmonica and clarinet at the Carinthian State Conservatory , which he broke off in 2001 for the last semester. From 1995 to 2006 he also worked as a music teacher for Styrian harmonica at the Institute for Music Education in South Tyrol.
From 1998 to 2010 he was a freelancer at the broadcaster Rai Südtirol , where he worked as a radio and television presenter. From 1995 to 2010 he spent the summer months as a dairy farmer on various alpine pastures in Switzerland and South Tyrol. He lived and worked in Innsbruck from 2011 to 2019 , then moved his home and company headquarters to Gnadenwald in Tyrol.
Pixner has been married to Sybille Brunner since May 21, 2016.
Career
In 2000 Pixner went to Vail (Colorado) as a bar musician for three months .
Pixner founded various music groups in different genres, from folk music to jazz to classical and contemporary music. There were various concerts and recordings of various CD and radio recordings, in which he acted both as a soloist and with various other groups and representatives of various styles at home and abroad. Evidenced by z. B. Recordings with Kurt Ostbahn , Manou Manouche, Symphonic Winds, Joe Smith Band, Maximilian Geller , Restless Leg Syndrome, André Heller and many others. There was also a musical collaboration with contemporary composers such as Manuela Kerer and Eduard Demetz . With Heidi Pixner , Manuel Randi and Werner Unterlercher he has been part of the Herbert Pixner project since 2005 , with which there have been intensive concert tours ever since. Concerts in concert halls such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Wiener Konzerthaus , the Philharmonie Munich, Berlin and Cologne, the Festspielhaus Salzburg and Bregenz and various festivals bear witness to this .
From 2007 to 2010 there were various folk music projects and concerts with the vocal ensemble Schnittpunktvokal from Carinthia. In 2008 he created commissioned compositions for the Lower Maize Citizens' Chapel for Styrian harmonica and the Diatonika wind orchestra , which premiered in the Kurhaus in Merano . There were also theater and cabaret productions with Charly Rabanser , Dietmar Gamper , Susan Ladez , Karlheinz Macek , Leo Ploner and others. In 2008 he also received a prize as a young artist from the Hanns Seidel Foundation .
From 2008, various theater and cabaret premieres of the plays The Froschmensch , The Fog of South Tyrol and Die Hard, Brandner! by Dietmar Gamper, where Herbert Pixner was on stage as a musician and actor. In collaboration with the saxophonist Maximilian Geller , he recorded two CDs in Munich. From 2009 to 2010 Pixner worked on a contemporary dance project (Selina and Selin ancor) with dancer Evelin Stadler in South Tyrol and Frankfurt and as the director of the International Fuchsseefestspiele in Ridnaun Valley . In 2011 he was awarded the “Stern” of the Münchner Abendzeitung for his services to the further development of traditional alpine folk music.
In 2012 Pixner took over the musical direction of the Festival Vertical-Horizontal in Neukirchen am Großvenediger . In 2013 he was appointed director of the music festival in Spielberg in Styria. He has been the head of his own label Three Saints Records since 2014 , under which all CD and vinyl recordings with the Herbert Pixner project have been published. From 2015 to 2017 he was also the producer of the television show Pixner's BACKstage for Servus TV with pixner productions gmbh, together with the South Tyrolean production company ammira .
Pixner founded the band Italo Connection with Manuel Randi, Alex Trebo, Mario Punzi, Max Castlunger, Marco Stagni and Martin Resch in 2018 . In autumn 2019, the Herbert Pixner project plays with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , the Symphonic-Alps Tour .
