Hermann Friedrich Otto Dieckmann (born November 18, 1818 in Clausthal , † December 28, 1887 in Hanover ) was a German educator and school director.

Life

Hermann Dieckmann was born at the time of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1818 as the son of the director of the Clausthaler Gymnasium and later archdeacon A. Chr. E. Dieckmann or August Carl Ernst Dieckmann .

Dieckmann attended the Clausthaler Gymnasium as well as the one in Braunschweig and finally the Collegium Carolinum there , where he was enrolled in theology with the matriculation number 2556 on December 11, 1837 , similar to his brother Otto Heinrich Ernst Dieckmann with the matriculation number 2885 on August 13th 1842. In Göttingen at the Georg August University and in Berlin he also studied philology until 1841 .

After his state examination, Dieckmann first worked as a private tutor and from 1845 to 1846 as an assistant teacher in Hanover at the local Lyceum . In the years from 1846 to 1851 he worked as a full professor of the 4th grade at the higher citizens' school , from 1851 to 1853 then on the board of the town's daughter school.

Finally, from 1853 Hermann Dieckmann was the first director of the municipal Höhere Töchterschule , which was later built from 1869 to 1871 by the architect Ludwig Droste as a new building at the then address Aegidiendamm 4 at the corner of Hildesheimer Straße , as well as the associated seminar for teachers . Two program treatises by Dieckmann are known from this period.

Dieckmannstrasse

Dieckmannstrasse , which was laid out in the south of the city in 1907 and leads from Lutherstrasse to Kleine Düwelstrasse , has since honored the first director of the Höhere Töchterschule I.
