Hermann Hofer von Lobenstein
Karl Heinrich Hermann Freiherr Hofer von Lobenstein (born February 7, 1804 in Erfurt , † October 9, 1872 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and since 1862 heir to Wildenstein.
Life
origin
Hermann was a son of the Prussian major Karl Friedrich Hofer von Lobenstein (1759-1828) and his wife Karoline Wilhelmine, née Krutisch (1780-1813).
Military career
Hofer visited the Berlin Cadet House and was transferred to the 2nd Infantry Regiment of the Prussian Army on July 28, 1821 as a Second Lieutenant . From April 1 to September 30, 1824 he was in command of the Infantry Training Battalion. In 1829 he became a battalion adjutant and on March 30, 1830 he was commanded as an adjutant to the General Command of the 1st Army Corps . On the occasion of the Kalisch revue in 1835 he was awarded the Order of Saint Anne III. Great and advanced to prime lieutenant in mid-February 1846 . Leaving his position at the General Command, Hofer was aggregated on September 8, 1840 as captain of the 35th Infantry Regiment . From May 31, 1841 to March 29, 1844 he was adjutant of the 5th Division and then worked as a company commander in the 13th Infantry Regiment . From March 21, 1848, he was promoted to major and was employed as a regular staff officer in the 16th Infantry Regiment . On July 21, 1849 he was transferred to Soest as commander of the 1st Battalion in the 16th Landwehr Regiment . On June 18, 1850, he joined the Emperor Alexander Grenadier Regiment as a battalion commander and was promoted to lieutenant colonel in mid-March 1853 .
Hofer was appointed commander of Erfurt on August 14, 1856 , and on October 3, 1856, he was placed à la suite of his previous regiment. On April 4, 1857 he was appointed commander of the 38th Infantry Regiment (6th Reserve Regiment) stationed in Frankfurt am Main and at the same time appointed to command all Prussian troops in the city. This was followed on November 22, 1858 as a commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade in Stettin . In this position Hofer was awarded Major General on May 31, 1859 and on the occasion of the coronation celebrations of King Wilhelm I on October 18, 1861 with the Order of the Red Eagle II. Class with Oak Leaves. Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Hofer was on January 4, 1864 Pension for disposition made. He died in Berlin on October 9, 1872.
family
Hofer married Natalie Freiin von Esebeck (1815–1882), a daughter of Lieutenant General von Esebeck , on October 17, 1833 in Königsberg . She was buried on July 12, 1882 in the Invalidenfriedhof . The couple had several children:
