Karl August Ludwig Hans von Esebeck , since 1869 Baron von Esebeck (born April 11, 1786 in Zweibrücken , † December 21, 1871 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

He was the son of the Prussian major general Karl von Esebeck (1745-1809) and his wife Wilhelmine Charlotte, née Schönberg von Brenkenhoff (born February 5, 1752, † September 8, 1827).

Military career

Esebeck came on December 1, 1797 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia . There he was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-January 1804 . During the Fourth Coalition War , Esebeck was seriously wounded in the Battle of Auerstedt . After the Peace of Tilsit he was considered incapacitated and received his farewell on November 8, 1807 with an annual pension of 96 thalers and the prospect of being employed in community service. On March 23, 1808, he was given the character of a staff captain with permission to wear his old army uniform.

In the run-up to the Wars of Liberation , Esebeck was employed on April 1, 1813 as leader of the company of voluntary hunters in the 3rd East Prussian Landwehr Infantry Regiment and was promoted to captain on July 1, 1813 . For his work in the Battle of Großbeeren Esebeck received the Iron Cross II. Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class. He took part in the battle of Dennewitz , the battle at Jüterbog and the sieges of Wittenberg , Wesel and La Fère . On December 20, 1813, he was promoted to major with a patent from May 18, 1814 and transferred to the 3rd Westphalian Landwehr Infantry Regiment as battalion leader. From July 26th to December 29th, 1815 Esebeck was in the 1st Westphalian Landwehr Regiment and then as a commander in the Königsberg Guard Landwehr Battalion. On February 20, 1822 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel by patent from April 10, 1822 . On March 30, 1826, he came to the Guard Reserve Landwehr Regiment as a commander, and on June 27, 1826 Esebeck received a bonus of 300 thalers.

On March 30, 1828 he was promoted to colonel with a patent from May 5, 1828 and a year later transferred to the 3rd Infantry Regiment as commander. As a result of his wounding near Auerstedt, Esebeck suffered from headaches and on May 16, 1829 was given permission to work in the hat. On March 30, 1835, he joined the 1st Landwehr Brigade as a commander, and on March 30, 1836, he was promoted to major general. On March 30, 1839, Esebeck was appointed commander of the 1st Infantry Brigade . Due to illness, he was granted ten weeks' leave on June 2, 1839, in order to recover in Wiesbaden . On April 7, 1842, Esebeck took over the 1st Division and rose to Lieutenant General on March 30, 1844. In this capacity, he was awarded the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, on September 2, 1844 . On March 5, 1845, he was charged with the statutory pension for disposition made. Esebeck received his departure on January 17, 1850, but was again put up for disposition on December 29, 1860. For his achievements he was raised to the baron status on March 6, 1869, and died on December 12, 1871 in Potsdam.

He was lord of Reichenwalde and knight of the Order of St. John .

Esebeck married Frederike von Saucken (1788-1830) on September 21, 1809 . The couple had several children:

After the death of his first wife, Esebeck married Therese Angelique von Stülpnagel (* November 12, 1810 - August 25, 1887), a daughter of General Wolf Wilhelm Ferdinand von Stülpnagel, on April 15, 1831 . The couple had several children:
