Ernst Wilhelm Georg Jakob von Koskull also Koschkull (born January 31, 1775 in Bixten near Jakobstadt ; † July 26, 1856 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Origin and family

Ernst was a member of the Kurland noble family von Koskull . His parents were the heir on Stalgen ( Staļģenes muiža ), councilor of the Courland government and senior court judge Adam von Koskull (1740-1815) and Louisa Elisabeth von Nolde adH Kalleten (1754-1780).

Koskull entered the state of marriage three times. first he married Luise Amalie Sophie Countess von Truchseß zu Waldburg adH Capustigall (1775–1815) in Königsberg in 1796 . This marriage ended in divorce. His second marriage was in 1808 in Bilderweitschen with [Jeannette] Amalie von Sanden (1781-1831). As a widower, he married Juliane Wilhelmine Wirth (1796–1866), widowed von Loebell , widowed von Studnitz , a third time in 1835 . Koskull had two daughters.

Career

Koskull joined in 1789 as a Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment. 2 in Prussian service one. He was promoted in 1790 to Portepee ensign , 1791 Ensign , 1795 to second lieutenant and 1805 to first lieutenant . He took part in the Fourth Coalition War, in particular the siege of Danzig . In 1806 he became a staff captain in the 3rd Pomeranian Reserve Battalion, rose to become a real captain in 1807 and became company commander in the 2nd Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 12 in 1808 . In 1808 Koskull was transferred to the 3rd East Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 4 and took part in the Wars of Liberation with it. He took part in the battles near Dresden , Leipzig , Laon , Paris and Belle Alliance , where he was wounded in front of Leipzig and won the Iron Cross II class , as well as the Iron Cross I class for Paris and the St. -Annen-Order II. Class received. He also took part in the siege of Erfurt and the battles near Halle , Hoyerswerda, Luckau , Häsebich and Meaux. During the war he was promoted to major in the 18th Infantry Regiment in 1813 , received the Order of St. Vladimir IV. Class in 1815 and was promoted to lieutenant colonel . In 1816 Koskull became the commander of the 18th Infantry Regiment and was promoted to colonel in 1818 . From 1827 he filled the position of the commandant of Königsberg. In 1832 he was given the character of major general .

Koskull was jointly on 11 March 1834 his nephew Leonard of Koskull , (1798-1872), Prussian lieutenant general and Alexander von Koskull, Prussian first lieutenant (1799-1839) as Koschkull in the Prussian baron lifted . Also in 1834 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class and the Order of St. Stanislaus, First Class . The award of the Red Eagle Order III followed in 1836. Class with ribbon, and in 1839 that of the Red Eagle Order II. Class with oak leaves on the occasion of his 50th anniversary of service. In 1839 he received the patent for major general and in 1841 he left with the character of lieutenant general at an annual pension of 1,750 thalers.
