Hermann Pöschel (born September 28, 1919 in Zeitz ; † December 30, 2007 in Berlin ) was a German functionary and politician of the SED in the GDR .

Life

The son of an unskilled worker completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith after attending secondary school from 1935 to 1938 . He then studied at the higher technical college in Magdeburg and was then from 1940 to 1945 test engineer at the Junkers aircraft factory (JFM) in Dessau .

After the end of World War II, he worked as a locksmith, foreman and foreman in Dessau and entered 1945 first the SPD in before it after the forced merger of the SPD and the KPD in 1946 member of the SED. After he was technical director at VEB Kinderwagenfabrik Zeitz from 1946 to 1950 , he studied in 1951 at the state party school of the SED in Ballenstedt. After that he was for a short time head of department in the government of Saxony-Anhalt and then between 1952 and 1953 at the council of the Halle district .

In 1953 he moved to the mechanical engineering department of the Central Committee of the SED , where he was first an instructor, before he became a sector manager in 1954 and finally in 1956 deputy department manager. After he was head of the research, technological development and investment policy working group of the SED Central Committee from 1958 to 1961, he became head of the Research and Technological Development Department of the SED Central Committee in 1961 and retained this function until the SED was dissolved in December 1989 He was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit (VVO) for the first time and in 1963 also received the Labor Banner for the first time .

In 1963 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the SED and in 1964 again with the VVO. From 1966 to 1971 he was head of the science and technology working group, a member of the political working group at the Politburo and from 1967 to 1989 a member of the Central Committee of the SED.

After he was honored again in 1969 with the banner of labor, in 1975 he received the VVO for the third time as well as the fight for the first time "For Merit for the People and the Fatherland" . When the black market by Polish nationals increased in August 1977 , he received an order from the Central Committee of the SED to examine how the objects offered in the black market (silk scarves, women's sweaters, denim clothing, gas lighters, records, lollipops and chewing gum) were produced and produced in the GDR can be offered, while Hermann Axen , a member of the Politburo, is given the task of talking to the Central Committee about "countermeasures" against the black market.
