Herzflimmern - Die Klinik am See (second season: Herzflimmern - Liebe zum Leben ) is a German daily soap that was produced on behalf of ZDF from November 2010 to February 2012 and was shown in the afternoon program from April 2011. According to the ZDF, it is the first so-called Medical Daily on German television. After an extension of the series before it started broadcasting, 200 episodes were initially planned. On September 29, 2011, the station ordered another 55 episodes, so that the format ultimately came to 255 episodes.
background
In mid-2010 it became known that ZDF was planning a new daily series. The format was produced by Bavaria Fernsehproduktion GmbH, and shooting began on November 22, 2010 on the grounds of the Bavaria Film Studios in Grünwald - Geiselgasteig near Munich . The series was broadcast from April 4, 2011 at 2:25 p.m. on ORF 2, at 4:15 p.m. on ZDF and at 4:55 p.m. on SF 1, which means that the Medical Daily opens in Germany as well as in Austria and Switzerland These slots were replaced by the low-rated telenovela Lena - Love of my Life , whose first broadcast in Germany and Austria had been postponed to the slots for the previous day's repeats in the morning.
Over time, the odds of the series have seen a steady downward trend. Until November 2011, the soap, with a market share of less than 2% in the advertising-relevant group, was well below the channel average, which is why ZDF officially announced the end of the format on December 1, 2011. The series could be seen in the station's afternoon program until December 30, 2011, before the remaining episodes were broadcast on ZDF's night program from January 1, 2012 and, since January 2, 2012, on the morning of the following day at around 11:10 a.m. ZDFneo were repeated. The reason for the discontinuation was that the production - even with the start of a second season and the associated changes in content and personnel - could not achieve the expected success with the viewers. Production of the series ends on February 2, 2012. The last episode of the series was shown on April 18 on ZDF and on April 19 on ZDFneo. Subsequently, the latter began broadcasting the series on April 20.
action
The focus of the action is a hospital located in the fictional town of Sonnenberg. The main focus is on the clinic director Johanna Lindner and her husband, the judge Thomas Lindner. Her son Markus Lindner is also a doctor and is about to marry the new assistant doctor Marie Egger. Other characters are the chief surgeon Roland Bernheimer, his wife Shirley Wilson, the nurses Karen, Henriette and Mesut and the head nurse Ursula. In July, the broadcaster announced that from October 2011 new characters will be arriving in Sonnenberg and the Seeklinik. In the course of this, among others, Nova Meierhenrich (played Dr. Marie Egger ), who had stood between two men since the beginning of the series, left the Seeklinik with her “dream prince”, who was not communicated until the end, and thus the series. According to the broadcaster, this development happens according to the script and was not planned differently from the start of filming. From October 2011, with the appearance of three new doctors for new stories in and around Sonnenberg, the course was set.
