Ben Braun (born August 23, 1979 in Heidelberg ) is a German actor .

Life

Ben Braun studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City from 2001 to 2003 . After completing his education, he appeared in film and theater productions in New York and Los Angeles . Braun has lived in Berlin since 2004. From 2007 to 2009, there followed acting training and acting coaching with Sigrid Andersson at the acting agency “Die Tankstelle” in Berlin . In Berlin he also attended acting courses in the Meisner Technique .

Braun has appeared regularly in film and television productions since 2004. He also played leading roles in several short films, including Knirsch and Gravity , which was nominated for the Max Ophüls Prize and won the Audience Award at the Moondance International Film Festival. In the cinema he was seen in Jan Fehse's film In Every Second (2008). In 2009 he starred in the main cast of Marc Rothemund's comedy film Groupies Don't Stay for Breakfast ; he played the role of Tom, a Berlin taxi driver and the somewhat shy new friend of the mother of the main female character Lila. The collaboration with Rothemund continued in 2013 with the movie Today I'm blond . His international productions include the feature film Meet me in Montenegro with Rupert Friend and Jennifer Ulrich , which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2014 .

Ben Braun took on his first leading role on television in 2010 in the RTL comedy Nina Undercover - Agentin mit Kids . The ZDF occupied Braun in the male lead of the handsome, charismatic photographer Leo Purbright in the romantic Katie Fforde film version Harriet's Dream (2011). Further leading roles followed in the television drama Die Holzbaronin (2012), in which Ben Braun played the role of Josef Meder over a period of 40 years. Braun played one of the leading male roles in the ARD comedy Die Konfirmation (2017, director: Stefan Krohmer). He also had episode roles on the television series and series Hello Robbie! (2008), There comes Kalle (2011), A strong team (2013), Commissioner Lucas (2013),  Alarm für Cobra 11 (2015) and SOKO Munich (2016). From 2016-2017 he was seen in a recurring series role in Der Bergdoktor as land surveyor Tim Petersen.

In 2016, Ben Braun was in the main cast of the ARD impostor comedy Big Manni , directed by Niki Stein in front of the camera. For the Tatort: ​​Dark Time (2017), Braun worked again with Niki Stein. In December 2017 Braun was seen in the ZDF series Die Bergretter in an episode role as former Olympic champion and sports manager Timo Danner. In January 2018, Braun was seen in a leading role in the crime series SOKO Wismar on ZDF; alongside Pauline Knof , he played the architect Daniel Wittbusch, whose neighbors have disappeared without a trace.

Braun is president and player of the Berlin leisure soccer club “FC Südsee”.
