Hieronymus von Brückner

Hieronymus von Brückner (born October 30, 1730 in Erfurt ; † September 7, 1806 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 9th Dragoon Regiment .

Life

origin

He comes from the Erfurt family of scholars Brückner and was the son of Dr. jur. utr. Hieronymous von Brückner (* June 28, 1690; † 1762) and his wife Christine Sophie, née Sibert. Wilhelm Hieronymus Brückner (1656–1736) was his great uncle and Jacob Ernst von Brückner (1699–1746) was his uncle.

Military career

Brückner was transferred to Dragoon Regiment No. 3 in 1751 and became an ensign there on May 22, 1755 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles near Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Roßbach , Kunersdorf and in the siege of Schweidnitz . During that time he became second lieutenant on April 8, 1757 .

After the war, on October 7, 1766, he became a staff captain in Regiment No. 3 and on February 5, 1776, major . He then attended the Bavarian War of Succession in part, was on March 1, 1786 Lieutenant Colonel and on 2 June 1790 , Colonel . On September 9, 1791 he was commander of the Dragoon Regiment No. 3 and at the review on June 3, 1792 he received the order Pour le Mérite . On November 12, 1792 he was appointed chief of the 9th Dragoon Regiment and on January 8, 1793 major general.

On May 5, 1794, he received approval to include his son in the regiment. With the regiment he came to Poland during the Kościuszko uprising and took part in the capture of Warsaw . But on November 25, 1797 he received his resignation and a pension of 1000 thalers. He died in Berlin on September 7, 1806.

Brückner was married to Johanna Krause. The couple had several children who were legitimized on March 20, 1793, including:

  • Karl Ferdinand (* 1777; † August 15, 1803), second lieutenant in Hussar Regiment No. 3. He died in a fall from his horse.
  • Wilhelm Heinrich (* 1789; † August 1, 1801)
