occupation

Hinterdupfing is a Heimatfilm that celebrated its public premiere on May 8, 2014 at the Augsburg Film Festival. The comedy was shot by a young film team from Chiemsee in Chiemgau . The film started in 22 cinemas in Bavaria on May 8, 2014, and the film was also shown in Austrian cinemas from July 4. Hinterdupfing stayed on the film market continuously for three months in the southern German region ( Bavaria , Baden-Württemberg , Austria ) and reached 50,000 cinema-goers. On December 4, 2014, DVD , Blu-ray and VoD sales began in the German-speaking area through the eurovideo distribution .

action

Hinterdupfing - as the name suggests, nothing is offered in this village. Every day is like the other, the church lags far behind. Occasionally, D-Mark is still being traded, cars are not needed, and smartphones are not found here either. The economic situation in the Bavarian province of Hinterdupfing is not very good. One day a clique of village youth comes up with the idea of establishing the place as a holiday destination. On the spur of the moment, they drive into town to lure tourists towards their village. In fact, the crazy plan seems to work - but unfortunately Hinterdupfing is not prepared for the surprising influx of visitors.

background

Hinterdupfing was produced by a group of students and police officers completely independently and without funding. A theatrical release was not even planned until the first trailer was released. The Schmidbauer-Film team decided to take the distribution into their own hands in order to remain true to the core and the original development of the project.

Andreas and Tanja Schmidbauer founded Schmidbauer-Film Verleih especially for the distribution of Hinterdupfing . The experiences from the cinema distribution of their first work processed Andreas Schmidbauer as part of his undergraduate thesis at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart entitled: Cinema release of a Bavarian dialect film the example Hinterdupfing in proprietary hire .

Awards

The film celebrated its opening at the 2014 Augsburg Film Festival and gave the 2014 Waginger Open Air Film Festival the best-attended screening in its history. This performance with 1200 visitors alone catapulted Hinterdupfing to the top of the German cinema charts for German films on the weekend of Pentecost .

On February 7th, 2015 Tanja Schmidbauer was awarded as best actress for her role Vroni Dupfer at the Salzburg Film Festival Klappe . Maximilian Schaffner was nominated for his role as Sigi Wallner in the same category. The film Hinterdupfing , represented by Andreas Schmidbauer, received a nomination in the category of best professional film, but had to admit defeat to the short film Perlmutter by Christian Wenger.

Reviews

“With the third film 'Hinterdupfing' they have now achieved a super coup. The comedy is now running all over Bavaria. Mostly in the country, but more and more cities are adding the shrill farce to their program. "

“The young people in the village are looking for change and develop a kind of individual 'tourism concept' that makes Hinterdupfíng a crowd-puller in a very short time. Similarities with the sometimes rather strange marketing ideas of regional tourism experts are certainly purely coincidental. In addition to very good entertainment and the playful handling of some Upper Bavarian 'village clichés', the film also has a message for the sleepy establishment: Hinterdupfing is everywhere. "

“The dialect is unadulterated and honest, the story itself is bogus. Still, 'Hinterdupfing' is a success. Because the film, which is carried by such a passion, shows that there are still small bright spots in the film world, which is characterized by commercialism and superficiality. "

"'Hinterdupfing' is sometimes a bit like farm theater, but there are films with Til Schweiger that are definitely worse."

“'Hinterdupfing' tells self-ironically about the most remote of all southern German villages and their inhabitants. There it is like the wildest nightmares about Bavaria - but also like in reality. Andreas Schmidbauer and his crew bring their gags across with so much passion that you can easily endure the two hours. "
