The church is a plastered masonry structure , the foundation of which stands on oak piles. In its neoclassical monumentality, it is based on the Berlin sacred architecture of the 18th century. However, elements of the baroque and plait style can also be made out. The fronts are structured by colossal pilasters . The roof is designed like a pagoda . There is an attic above a roof cornice and a high hipped roof rises above it . Above the western main portal there are sandstone sculptures on the attic, two angels in the middle of the blessing Christ. The architectural style differs from the traditional neo-Gothic brick churches in Berlin at the time. The Wiesbaden program of 1890 called for a departure from the historicizing architectural style in order to enable effective liturgical participation of the community. In essence, this was a move away from a long house to a central building . The floor plan has the shape of a Greek cross , which is evenly extended to the east towards the altar and to the west towards the organ. Three sides of the interior are surrounded by massive galleries on four columns each. In the longitudinal direction the interior is provided with a coffered barrel vault , into which the barrel vaults of the short transverse arms cut. The space artistically portrayed in this way unites and unites the community. This creates a special feeling of solidarity with one another, especially when services are well attended.

tower

The street scene is dominated by the tower attached on the southwest side. Its design is based on the garrison church in Potsdam . It is divided into several floors. The tower clocks are located above the sound arcades of the bell chamber . The eight-sided essay is covered with a hood topped by a lantern .

Furnishing

Painting

Vault

Inside it is one of the most important sacred buildings of the late Art Nouveau in Berlin with its unmistakable design language and color scheme . The entrances are brightly colored - the main one is purple. The moonlight colors contrast with this; inside the church: rose, lilac, stucco, light gray. These in turn are in a color dialogue with black verticals, in which there are artistic grisaille paintings and the royal blue altar wall with a starry sky.

The important motif of Art Nouveau, the woman dominating everything, appears again sacredly modified in many angelic figures of the church. Most of the total of 36 angels are painted in partly very complex techniques, some are made of stone.

Altar and pulpit

There was originally a pulpit altar in the altar niche, which was removed from 1962–1964. The pulpit found a new place in a reduced form. During the restoration 1985–1987 an attempt was made to restore the condition from the time it was built. The altar niche could not be reconstructed in its old form . The painting The Homecoming of the Prodigal Son by Bernhard Rode was attached to the east wall .

The first organ came from the Sauer company . In the beginning it had 29  registers , two manuals and a pedal . It has been rebuilt and expanded several times. In addition, the church has a mobile positive .
