Holm Gero Hümmler (born September 22, 1970 in Hanau ) is a German nuclear physicist , management consultant, author and active in the skeptic movement .

Life

Hümmler studied physics and meteorology at the University of Frankfurt , combined with economics at the Open University in Hagen . While doing research on his thesis, he spent several months at CERN in Geneva , Switzerland . Hümmler received his doctorate from the Technical University of Munich in 2000 . He also researched and worked at the Max Planck Institute for Physics and participated in the STAR experiment of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton , New York . Hümmler left active research in 2001 to initially work for the Boston Consulting Group . In 2007 he founded Uncertainty Managers Consulting , which advises companies in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.

Hümmler lives in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt am Main and is involved in charities in his free time.

Skeptics

Hümmler has been an active member of the Society for the Scientific Investigation of Parasciences (GWUP) since the 1990s . He is the regional group spokesman for Frankfurt and was editor of the GWUP magazine Der Skeptiker for several years . He is currently investigating pseudoscientific claims from the areas of pseudophysics, esotericism in companies, conspiracy theories , supernatural phenomena in martial arts, alleged UFO sightings and weather phenomena. Furthermore, he explores the biological influence of ionizing radiation and the misuse of physical terms in pseudosciences, especially in the fields of quantum physics and relativity . In doing so, he exposes theories about free energy or quantum healing .

Hümmler appears in the media as a GWUP expert on conspiracy theories such as chemtrails . In 2008 he joined the ProSieben telecast Galileo on; he examined the skills of Shaolin monks. He was a speaker at the World Skeptics Congress 2012 in Berlin .

His first book, Relative Quantum Quark , was published in April 2017. It deals with pseudoscientific claims in esotericism and alternative medicine , but also deals with quantum mechanics and relativity .

He is the author of the scientific blog Quantenquark and was a speaker at the 17th European Skeptics Congress (ESC) in Wrocław , Poland . He also appears at German conferences such as SkepKon or Ratio in Bulgaria.

In 2019 his second book Conspiracy Myths was published. How we are fooled with twisted facts. In this he deals with common conspiracy theories, such as those of September 11, 2001 , the moon landing or chemtrails.
