Homosexual acts have been legal in Monaco since 1793 . The age of consent is uniformly 16 years. There is no anti-discrimination law in Monaco to protect sexual orientation . Same-sex marriage is not legally allowed in Monaco . From mid-2020, a law on the approval of a registered partnership will come into force. At the end of October 2016, the Parliament of Monaco passed a draft law that allows same-sex and different-sex couples to establish a partnership institute. The bill requires the approval of the government to enter into force. In April 2018, the government endorsed the draft law for a civil partnership institute. On December 4, 2019, the draft law was finally passed by the Conseil National and will come into force in mid-2020.
A homosexual community is only found on a small scale in Monaco due to the small size of the population and is much more likely to be found in neighboring France in nearby cities such as Marseille , Nice and Lyon .
