The Honda XL 50 is a mock-up from the vehicle manufacturer Honda that was sold in the 1970s and 80s.

Technical details

The air-cooled single-cylinder engine generates a nominal output of 1.25 kW (1.7 HP) from a 42 mm bore and 36.5 mm stroke in the so-called shot glass class up to 50 cm³ displacement . The four-stroke engine has an overhead camshaft that controls an intake and an exhaust valve. In terms of design, it is a real enduro , but due to its small size, it is only partially suitable for off-road use. In order to meet the registration requirements as a mokick with insurance license plate , the engine was throttled by a throttle in the exhaust and a retarded ignition from 4500 rpm and thus had only 1.7 hp. The same motor was installed in the CY 50 and in the Honda CB 50 J without a perforated screen. The 6 volt electrical system that was common for the time was used. The selectable colors at that time were sulfur-yellow (yellow) and tahiti-red (red). The purchase price was 1799 DM.

background

The engine with a larger displacement (80 cm³) was installed in the Honda CY 80 and in the Honda XR 80 . Today the engine is installed in a modified form in the APE 50 and APE 100 models.
