The title Monte Carlo Kokasession and the online single Meine Lady / Forever Player were released as free songs . In addition, Selfmade Records put a five-part series documenting Kollegah's stay in New York on the Internet. The Hoodtape Volume 1 was released on August 14th in a steel box, which, in addition to the new sound carrier, the so-called "pimp tape trilogy", consisting of the albums pimp tape (X-Mas Edition) , Boss der Bosse and pimp tape Volume 3 , a text book with the lyrics of the pimp tapes and a Kollegah condom. The Steelbox was sold directly through the label's online shop and limited to 1111 copies. Original text sheets from the rapper were enclosed with eleven boxes. production

Contrary to what you might expect from a mixtape, all beats were produced exclusively for the tape. As a major producer Chrizmatic has been in charge here, which the beats of the songs intro , fanboy , Kokshändlerbusiness , Hotel Suite , Gone , 2010 Bonnie and Clyde , Sexxx , Frank Miller , cleaning lady , Forever Player , Power tail , robbery 2 and 44er biceps produced. Selfmade Records house producer Rizbo , who had already been involved in every Kollegah release in the past, provided the background music for the pieces Überfall and Taj Mahal Kokasession . Two beats were also produced by Vizirbeats , who in the past has often produced productions for Kollegah and Favorite. Those titles are Monte Carlo Coca Sessions and My Lady . In addition, the song drug specialist Chinese was produced by B-Case, who had already produced a large part of the titles on the third part of the pimp tape series. Freshmaker, who produced hailstones , and DJ Fukktvollab, to whom the title Sohnemann , which contains a sample of the song More Or Less by the rapper Shyne , could also contribute a piece . Further support in the production of Hood Tapes Kollegah received from the producer duo SixJune & Yoshi Noize. They were responsible for the background music for the songs Briatore , Ridermusic and Testomusic . The title Ostblocknutten, supported by arrest warrant , and the song Afternoon were also produced by KD-Beatz.

criticism

The editorial team of the Rap.de website published a review of the publication in which Hoodtape Volume 1 is described as a “ really good mixtape ”. Kollegah's metaphors are first-class and the texts, which initially seem boring, develop their humor after repeated listening. The productions of the songs, on the other hand, are “run-of-the- mill beats ”, which, however, means that the focus is on raps. In this regard, Kollegah has developed further and is now more stylistically oriented towards storytelling rap . With Gone , Kollegah only has one title on the album, the content of which is " apparently autobiographical ". The hooklines receive different ratings : While the disgusting chorus the rapper has recorded so far can be heard on Meine Lady , the best hookline on Ridermusic is Kollegahs. The only represented gastrapper arrest warrant delivered a disturbingly bad verse.

Another review appeared on the MeinRap.de website. In the opinion of the site Kollegah did not develop thematically, but changed its “ song structure ” and present the songs in storytelling style. The beats are rated as extremely versatile (" electronic, rocky or laid-back with old-school flavor "). In addition to his lyrics, Kollegah shows " entertainer qualities " in the transitions between the songs, in which the rapper describes various everyday situations of the fictional character Kollegah, such as the police knocking on him, a conversation with a girlfriend or the appearance of an annoying fan and taking on the various roles with a disguised voice. In summary, Hoodtape Volume 1 represents the " very promising cornerstone for another mixtape series ".

The website Rapspot.de awarded three out of a possible five evaluation points to the mixtape. Kollegah is picking up on Hoodtape Volume 1 the style of the Hoodtales of his previous publication pimp tape Volume 3 . From the point of view of the side, no song can be highlighted, but no title falls below the " usual Kollegah level " either . In summary, the mixtape cannot keep up with the rapper's albums or pimp tapes. However, it fulfills the purpose as a temporary distribution until Kollegah's next regular album release.
